“Educating the mind without educating the heart is no education at all”
– Aristotle
Hadih, Ts’uhoonti’i’ whusainya! Ian Paluck le soozi’.
Hello, and welcome to my page. My name is Ian Paluck.
I am proud Dakelh First Nation from the Tl’azt’en Nation, situated in the north-central part of British Columbia.
I was born in Kelowna, but I have spent the last 28 years in Tk’emlúps. This is the place that I call home, and I am grateful to be a guest within the Secwepemcúl̓ecw.
I believe that true education only takes place when we teach children matters of the heart. Teaching them facts and content can only go so far. I believe that the best way to teach children is to relate those facts to their hearts in some way. We need to connect facts with how they impact our wellbeing. We need to make meaningful connections, and we need to teach children how to care about what they are learning. I believe that teaching students how to speak courageously from their heart is of the utmost importance in creating a meaningful education. Which is why I chose to quote Aristotle above.
Please take your time to look around my page and join me in my teaching journey.
Musi (thank you), for stopping by.
This picture above was taken in March of 2021 after I had made the dean’s list for the second time in three semesters. My band was pleased with what I had accomplished and graciously paid to have professional photos taken of me for use in my future endeavours. The photo shown in the header of my page was also taken from that same photo shoot.
